Eurorack 1

My first Eurorack setup, currently in build phase 1 (view on ModularGrid). Working title is BFE (Babby's First Eurorack).

The RackBrute is a great case, but the Tiptop Mantis is even larger (two rows of 104HP each, neither of which has to host a power supply), has a beefier power supply (+12V/3000mA, -12V/1100mA, +5V/300mA), and is \$25 cheaper! Plus two of them can be combined in the same way that the RackBrutes can. It is a bit shallower at 50mm in the upper row and 61mm in the lower row—all in all, no big deal for the modules I have in mind.

My current system contains a broad range of features, so my goal with this system is to dig deeper, specifically into generative experiments. I want more modulation opportunities, effects, and control. Oh, and more synthy textures. With that in mind, modules are grouped into update phases according to how they fit with this goal. Links to items I don't yet have can be found in the toys section of my wishlist.

  1. cable spaghetti starter pack (≈\$1200)
    1. Tiptop Audio Mantis: case & PSU (\$335); all colors out of stock everywhere — will receive an email once Control Voltage has more in stock
    2. Mordax DATA: scope (\$395)
    3. Mutable Instruments Plaits: macro oscillator (\$219)
    4. Tiptop Audio MISO: attenuverter/mixer
    5. Doepfer A-148: dual S&H
    6. Befaco Knurlies 100-pack (\$40)
    7. modulation station
    8. Pamela's Pro Workout: master modulation source (\$340)
    9. Make Noise MATHS: function generator (\$290)
    10. Tiptop Audio Z4000: ADSR generator (\$175)
  2. buttons and knobs and dials, oh my!
    1. ALM Busy Circuits O/A/x2: dual attenuverter (\$100)
    2. Intellijel Scales: pitch quantizer (\$290)
    3. ALM Busy Circuits Pip Slope: envelope generator/LFO (\$130)
  3. subtraction is just pessimistic addition
    1. Tiptop Audio Forbidden Planet: multi-filter (\$130)
    2. ALM Busy Circuits Mum M8: low-pass filter (\$239)
  4. this is your brain on DSP
    1. Qu-Bit Electronix Aurora: spectral reverb (\$360)
    2. Qu-Bit Electronix Data Bender: circuit bent audio buffer (\$239)
  5. more tools than my family reunion
    1. ALM Busy Circuits MCO: wavetable oscillator
    2. Mutable Instruments Kinks: some extra CV fun
    3. 2hp Buff: a buffered mult, always handy but a little filler-y
    4. 2hp Div: dual clock divider
    5. 2hp Delay:
    6. Erica Synths Pico Logic
    7. Mutable Instruments Branches
  1. honorable mentions (items for future racks)
    1. Qu-Bit Electronix Mixology: it's a beautiful mixer, but it takes up a lot of space and is a tad redundant in my existing setup
    2. Qu-Bit Nautilus
