Eurorack 1

My first Eurorack setup, currently in build phase 1 (view on ModularGrid). Working title is BFE (Babby's First Eurorack).

As much as I wanted a Tiptop Audio Mantis case, I couldn't wait any longer and went for an Arturia RackBrute 6U instead. It's a perfectly fine starter case, and I can always double up later if when I need more room.

My current system contains a broad range of features, so my goal with this system is to dig deeper, possibly into generative experiments. I want more modulation opportunities, effects, and control. Oh, and more synthy textures. With that in mind, modules are grouped into update phases according to how they fit with this goal. Links to items I don't yet have can be found in the toys section of my wishlist.

upgrade: subtraction is just pessimistic addition

upgrade: modulation station

upgrade: buttons and dials and knobs, oh my!

upgrade: more tools than my family reunion

Honorable mentions (items for future racks):

  1. Qu-Bit Electronix Mixology: it's a beautiful mixer, but it takes up a lot of space (28 hp) and is a tad redundant in my existing setup
  2. Expert Sleepers Disting Mk 4 (\$190): a 4 HP Swiss army module (or its doubled version, the Disting Ex); note that to take advantage of the MIDI functionality, it will need a matching breakout module
  3. Befaco AC/DC (\$350): class-compliant DC-coupled USB audio interface
  4. Hexinverter Mutant Brain (\$220): polyphonic MIDI-CV interface
  5. Bastl Instruments 1983 (\$350): polyphonic MIDI-CV interface
  6. Qu-Bit Synapse (\$350): a four-channel crossfading switch
  7. Tiptop Audio Circadian Rhythms (\$500): CV sequencer
  8. 4ms Pingable Envelope Generator kit (\$200): the QPLFO kit was fun to build
  9. Qu-Bit Nautilus
  10. Qu-Bit Data Bender
  11. Empress Effects ZOIA Euroburo (\$700)
  12. Clank Chaos
  13. Qu-Bit Bloom
  14. Winter Modular Eloquencer: a big boy (38 HP) and quite expensive (\$650!), but it's like it was designed just for me
  15. 4ms EnvVCA
  16. 4ms Listen
  17. Squarp Hermod (may be redundant with Eloquencer)
